PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday discussed prevailing sectarian tension with the Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) leaders.
PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Punjab PTI President Ejaz Chaudhry, Bakhtiar Qasoori and Naeem Mir were also present.
The two sides decided to jointly promote unity, peace and harmony between all religious segments. They deplored the sectarian killings and termed it a planned conspiracy to spread unrest in the country with local and foreign hands involved in it.
The PTI chairman said it was a complete failure on the part of the government to deal with such elements. Leaders from both sides demanded that the government start inquiry into the Rawalpindi unrest. They also appealed to all segments of society to jointly defeat conspiracies hatched by people with vested interests.
Earlier, Ejaz Chaudhry visited the affected areas in Rawalpindi and promised the aggrieved families of all the help.
PTI office-bearers Mufti Saeed, Sadaqat Abbasi, Ejaz Ahmed, Rashid Hafeez and Muhammad Asif were also present.
Earlier, Punjab PTI Secretary Information Andleeb Abbas criticised the government for withdrawing the subsidy on the electricity for tube wells in Punjab. She said that the withdrawal was done in a very non-transparent manner which indicated that the government wanted to use the money for personal purpose. She said that the farmers were already crushed under the high inflation rates and were being exploited by the anti- poor policies. She demanded that the government restore the subsidy.
