Pakistan will continue to facilitate Afghan peace process: Nawaz

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said Pakistan would continue to facilitate the Afghan peace and reconciliation process.
Talking to a delegation, led by Afghan High Peace Council (HPC) Chairman Salahuddin Rabbani at the PM’s House, Nawaz reiterated the importance that Pakistan attached to a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.
The PM said Pakistan has always supported a peaceful, stable and united Afghanistan and was playing a constructive and positive role to facilitate an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned reconciliation process.
The visiting Afghan High Peace Council delegation thanked the PM for his efforts to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan.
Rabbani briefed Nawaz about the progress made in peace process until now. Rabbani said the Afghans were eagerly waiting for his visit to their country, which would provide momentum to peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
The visiting Afghan delegation also included HPC Secretary General Masoom Stanekzai and Member HPC Asadullah Wafa.
During the meeting, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Advisor to PM Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi, Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan Muhammad Sadiq and Secretary to PM Javed Aslam were present.
