The federal government on Monday announced advocate Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi as the special prosecutor in the treason case to be initiated against former military ruler Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf.

A petition was submitted in the apex court’s Lahore Registry seeking the trial of the former president and his subordinate generals under Article 6 of the Constitution.

Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had announced on Sunday that the government will try the former military ruler for treason for imposing emergency rule in 2007.

President of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Rana Muhammad Azeem submitted a petition in the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry according to which the former president had restrained the judges of the Supreme Court who were complying with the Constitution of Pakistan from performing their duties, for which he should be tried under Article 6 of the constitution.

The petition also sought to make all the generals of the army, who were serving at the time, party to the case.

The Supreme Court (SC) had stated earlier in May this year that the treason case against former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf would be heard by a special court.

  1. So by inference the whole of Pakistan's Army is under trial. Hold on to your horses for further action.

  2. True Pakistani

It is a shame that our leaders who leave the country when it not safe for them and return when they need to cheat the nation and unfortunately win the election by making false statements. Once they are elected they try to put on trial the soldiers who have protected the nation against external and internal aggressions and were and are ready to lay down their lives for the security and safety of the country and nation.
I feel sad that our nation in this day and age is still very ignorant and do not say a work against such shameful acts. Please stop stealing and hurting the nation and the country. Just remember we all too have to answer the Almighty in near future.
Please stop destroying Pakistan as it was created after a very long and hard battle.
