JI chief lashes out at govt, agencies over Pindi clashes

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan on Sunday said that the Rawalpindi incident was an evidence of the government’s failure to claim fool proof security on Ashura.

Addressing a meeting of the heads of JI’s sister bodies at Mansoora, Munawar said the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi had turned into centers of CIA, Black Water and RAW due to which the whole country was on the tip of volcano which could erupt any moment.

He stressed upon the government not to blindly believe in the ‘all ok’ reports of the agencies. He said the government always claimed of having made fool proof security arrangements on Ashura, and thousands of police, Rangers and security personnel were deputed for the purpose. Yet, the saboteurs and miscreants managed to strike somewhere and shed the blood of innocent people which was a question mark on the efficiency of these institutions.

The JI chief also appealed to the religious and political parties and ulema to realise the gravity of the situation and make every effort to create mutual harmony and national unity.

He said that the rulers were bent upon selling out more than three dozen national institutions to their kith and kin on throw away prices but the nation would not allow that. JI chief said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership had made promises to the nation to build the national economy and improve the lot of the masses, but no concrete effort had been made in this direction during the last five months. Instead of checking corruption in the institutions, the government was eager to privatise major institutions which created discomfort and disappointment among the workers for the fear of unemployment. However, he said, if the government tried to deprive the workers of their jobs through sale of institutions, they would come on roads in protest.
