The Punjab government has approved the plan of shifting the Azadi Chowk Crossing and construction of a four-lane dual carriageway from the existing junction to Masti Gate to ease the traffic flow by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).
Under the project, named Alternate Route to Outer Circular Road from Azadi Chowk to Masti Gate, the LDA will shift the existing crossing 500 metres back from the Lady Willingdon Hospital Chowk towards the shrine of Baba Chatri Wala. After shifting the crossing from the existing point, a four-lane two kilometre long dual carriageway would be constructed from Ahmad Ali Road toward Lorry Adda and Masti Gate.
The Planning and Development Working Party (PDWP) of the Punjab Planning and Development Department has approved the project design prepared by the National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK).
The project, after completion, would not only provide signal free crossing to the Metro Bus but also ease the flow of intercity and intracity traffic.
LDA Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed said that the LDA would start construction within the next couple of weeks and the project would be completed in six months. He added that funds had been released for the required land which would be acquired from private owners including Ravi Charga. He said an operation against encroachments and illegal constructions would be launched to vacate government land from grabbers.
Well done by the LDA under the supervision of Punjab government and this project must be completed very quickly.LDA must take serious notice of removing of Bilal Gunj Scrap market from outside Lahore .Due to this scrap severe problems have been initiated and traffic jam.pollution and many other problems have been created. The beauty of Lahore city is also affected by scrap market.

Wrong project you are destroying lot of business easy way is just make overhead bridge for metro bus you are paying to the owner of land but what about the business people who are doing their business for last fifty years on these places and there is already unemployment in the country Humane right for wall city lahore

A hug money and time loss of the poor business man and business community and residential persons because at the last time(hardly 2 years ago) when the construction was start for metro bus, the business stop / destroy on the rote of metro and business community suffer badly, whey the Punjab Govt. and the planner of Punjab Govt. does not add this project at that time. now when the peoples restart their business after suffering badly a new project start for digging the lahore and disturbed the business.
