Govt to curb energy crisis‚ terrorism: Nawaz

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said his government is determined to address the challenges like economy‚ energy crisis and terrorism, adding that the country would be steered out of these daunting challenges to lead it towards a bright future.
Addressing the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Colombo‚ he said his government is cognizant of these challenge and desired to address them urgently and simultaneously.
Nawaz said a long-term strategy of sustained and inclusive growth will be evolved to provide equal opportunities to all Pakistanis.
Speaking on the agenda item relating to climate change financing at the Commonwealth summit‚ the prime minister proposed formation of global policies to motivate private sector‚ enhanced availability of grants and soft loans to the public sector and early operationalisation of the Green Climate Fund.
He said, “Climate change is a defining reality of our times. It calls for a multi-pronged and revitalized global partnership for generating the needed financing to confront its effects.”
Nawaz also announced a special donation of $100,000 for the newly established Commonwealth Youth Council.
The contribution demonstrates the importance Pakistan attaches to the youth agenda and intended to fund the youth-led development projects of the Council in its early years.

Earlier‚ addressing the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting‚ the prime minister reiterated his resolve to steer country towards a new and bright future.
He said his government is committed to a long-term strategy of sustained and inclusive growth by providing equal opportunities to all Pakistanis.
The PM said equitable development is indeed one of the most significant contemporary challenge confronting the world particularly the Commonwealth.
Nawaz also held a bilateral meeting with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Summit. During the meeting, issues of common interests came under discussion.
The PM is being assisted by Tariq Fatemi, the special assistant to the PM on foreign affairs; Anusha Rehman, minister of state for IT and telecommunication and Jalil Abbas Jilani, the foreign secretary.
