The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday disqualified Yusuf Ayub, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) minister for communication, in a fake degree case.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry, took up appeal plea filed by Ayub against the decision of a subordinate court.
Tariq Mehmood, counsel for Ayub, said his client had contested election in 2002 on the basis of FA certificate and no question was raised about non-filing of BA degree. He made references to several decisions.
The court remarked “It has been proved that Yusuf Ayub was not even eligible to contest polls.”
Ayub had participated in election-2002 under FA certificate and later he had filed fake degree of BA. He achieved success during 2013 polls on the ticket of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Haripur. The rival candidate had filed petition in election tribunal against him and tribunal had declared him disqualified. Ayub approached the high court against this decision and high court upheld the decision of tribunal. Later, he resorted to the SC.
