KUJ, PFUJ demand immediate recovery of reporter

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ-D) and have strongly condemned the abduction of a reporter of a private TV channel besides torture of other journalists in various incidents of violence against the community.

The PFUJ and KUJ-D leaders while flaying the Sindh government’s lukewarm response towards the security and protection of journalists community demanded of the provincial government to take immediate action for the recovery of journalist who was abducted from the area somewhere between Shikarpur and Larkana nearly a week ago.

In their joint statement, the union leaders also flayed the dacoity incident at the home of senior journalist Waqar Bhatti and snatching of valuables from photojournalists Majid, cameraman Zuhaib Jeay Jaa.

KUJ-D president Sajid Aziz and PFUJ president Rana Muhammad Azeem demanded of the authorities concerned to arrest the culprits as soon as possible. They said a correspondent of a private channel, Asghar Thaheem, was kidnapped by unknown persons from somewhere between Larkana and Shikarpur some weeks ago but the Sindh government was still unable to recover him.
