Like other parts of the country, like-minded hardline religious forces arranged a rally under the auspices of Jamaat-ut-Dawa against the US drone attacks and supplies to NATO troops in Afghanistan here at Peshawar.

The activists and workers from different religious parties assembled at Chowk Fawara from where they proceeded towards the Peshawar Press Club and chanted slogans against the United States and the government as well. Some of them also chanted slogans in favour of Taliban militants.

Beside others the protesters were addressed by Maulana Sami Ul Haq, Mufti Najib Ullah, Maulana Darwaish, Ibraqhim Qasimi, Attique-ur-Rehman and Maulana Haseeb-ul-Haq Haqqani.

The speakers while showing sever resentment over the US drone attack killing banned Tehrik Taliban chief Hakim Ullah Mehsud alleged: “the US is against the process of peace in Afghanistan.” They demanded of the government to terminate relations with the US without further delay and supplies to the US-led allied troops in Afghanistan.

Leaders of different like-minded religious parties also condemned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for what they called extending support to the US. They said the whole nation was against the US but the present government was following policies inherited by previous military dictator Pervez Musharaf.
