Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah said on Friday that he would meet with the prime minister today (Monday) to discuss the prevailing situation regarding dialogue with the Taliban, local bodies election, targeted operation in Karachi and security arrangements for Muharram.

Talking to media persons here on Sunday, Shah said he had contacted all political parties who had shown consensus over developing education sector which is the base of overall development process and economic growth.

Shah also expressed dissatisfaction over the steps taken by the former and sitting governments for promoting education sector and said the federal government had to make extra efforts for uplifting the standard of education.

He said it was a matter of grave concern that 10 percent teaching staff in Sindh was doing three jobs at a time. Khurshid Shah said all political stakeholders during the All Parties Conference (APC) had given mandate to the government for holding peace talks with the Taliban as no single party could resolve the issue and joint efforts were needed to curb the menace of terrorism and extremism.

He said neither delimitations in Sindh had been completed nor notification of appointing returning officers for the LB polls had been issued.

Shah said he was surprised that why the Election Commission (EC) and judiciary wanted early LB elections despite being aware about the on-ground facts.

He said masses would raise question over the transparency of LB election conducted in an emergency situation and would blame that the government had itself compiled the results.
