Inquiry starts against 11 KP ministers on corruption charges

An enquiry has been started against 11 minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for alleged inappropriate use of authority and corruption.
KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak launched the inquiries on the directives of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan after some party lawmakers complained about the involvement of KP ministers in corruption.
According to reports, no charges came to the fore against the KP chief minister, two provincial ministers each from the Jamaat-e-Islami and PTI.
The ministers against whom inquiry has been initiated include: Land Revenue Minister Ali Ameen Khan Gandapur, Information Minister Shah Farman, Special Assistant to CM Yasin Khalil, Adviser to CM on Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani.
Separately, KP CM Pervez Khattak claimed that his government had brought to an end the ‘thana culture’ besides eliminating corruption from provincial institutions.
He said this while addressing party activists in Abbottabad.
Khattak said the government officials and employees have been asked to reduce their expenditures in accordance with the salaries.
Speaking about the local bodies’ elections, he said that in the polls a village with a population of 2,000 will be a council.
The CM said that after the LB elections, people would be independent to take decisions on their own. He said that every district council would annually awarded funds up to Rs 2 to Rs 2.5 million which be spent for the welfare of the people of the area concerned.
Khattak rejected the blames that people were being trapped under new LB system and assured that power and funds would be transferred to elected representatives.
