The Indian government has slammed the separatists for meeting with Pakistani prime minister’s envoy at the Pakistan High Commission on Sunday.

“When people come for such bilateral visits, they have their own schedules. We will meet a few people too and our agendas are similar,” said Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.

Khurshid’s comments came after chairman of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umer Farooq met with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s envoy on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also lashed out the Indian government over allowing Sartaj Aziz to hold talks with Kashmiri separatist leaders on the Indian soil.

President BJP Rajnath Singh said the central government had committed a “diplomatic blunder” by allowing Aziz to meet Kashmiri leaders.

“(I am) shocked to see that the UPA government has allowed Pakistan PM’s advisor Sartaj Aziz to hold talks with Kashmiri separatist leaders in New Delhi,” Rajnath Singh said on Twitter.

He also termed Kashmir as an internal matter of India and said it should be resolved through a home-grown solution. “Why Aziz is given this opportunity when Pakistan is committing acts of aggression in the state of Jammu and Kashmir?” he asked.

It is significant to mention that three senior separatist leaders including Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Muhammad Yasin Malik, Hurriyat group leader Syed Ali Gillani and Hurriyat faction leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were invited by the Pakistan High Commission to meet Sartaj Aziz.

Meanwhile, PM’s advisor Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan wanted peace with India and that all efforts were being made in this regard.

The advisor will attend a two-day Asia-Europe foreign ministers meeting which will begin in New Delhi today (Monday).

During his visit, Sartaj Aziz will hold talks with Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and his Indian counterpart Shiv Shankar Menon on the sidelines of the event. Sartaj Aziz will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from China‚ Bulgaria‚ France‚ Germany‚ Romania‚ Spain and SlovakRepublic besides Kashmiri leaders.
