Upgrade those signals, Metro is on its way: Saad Rafique

Pakistan Railways Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Friday said that the Pakistan Railways will initiate up-gradation work of signaling system on emergency basis between Shahdara and Raiwind, for launching Metro Train.

He was presiding over a high level meeting to review Metro Train Service at PR Headquarters where Punjab government representatives, Lahore Transport Company Chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hassan and Sabtain Fazal Haleem were also present.

The meeting discussed the resources required for the train, condition of level crossings at the train track, flyovers and underpasses.

The minister directed PR administration to present details of the level-crossings within seven working days.

Hassan appreciated the efforts of the minister for the restoration of the railways.

PR General Manager Operations Anjum Pervaiz, Additional GM Traffic Javaid Anwar, AGM Infrastructure Ghulam Muhammad Qureshi, AGM Mechanical Asad Ahsaan and PR IG Syed Ibne Hussain also attended the meeting.

  1. Maybe they should stop it 1 km before Raiwind, then ppl will be happy. The residential socities are going towards raiwind, so what is wrong in making the track that long? There is already a railway junction at Raiwind, from where people can catch other trains, or shift to metro for in-city journey. On the other end, the next railway junction is at Shahdara.
    So they should stop the train 1 km before Raiwind and ask the passengers to walk to Raiwind Junction, because ppl don't like to read the work Raiwind.
