Winter rains are likely to occur during the next 24 hours across the country, ending the weeks-long dry spell, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
PMD spokesman informed that the rains are likely with snowfall over the hills at scattered places during the next 24 hours and would continue till Thursday.
A westerly wave entered in Balochistan has gripped upper parts of the country. Under the influence of this weather system, scattered rain is expected in Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan. Isolated rainfall is also expected in South Punjab including Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur and Sahiwal divisions.
Isolated snowfall over the hills in Galyaat, Malakand, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan is also expected today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday).
Rain is also expected in the rice growing areas of Punjab, therefore, farmers are advised to take precautionary measures according to the day to day weather conditions.
