The Dow International Medical College (DUHS) organised the forth international symposium ‘Ramzan and Health’ at Ojha Campus.

There is an urgent need among the faithful to understand that fasting to please their Creator must not be turned into feast, they said.

DUHS vice chancellor Prof Masood Hameed Khan said that I am glad to inform that DUHS has established a Research Department to facilitate the research work on the significance of Ramazan fasting on human health.

NIDE former director and conference chairman Pro Zaman Sheikh said during Ramazan the diabetic patients prefer to fast and this conference will help them fulfill their religious obligation.

DUHS Research Department Director Prof Nazeer Shaikh said that no clinical studies were ever conducted in the country about an extremely important subject, with the exception of those undertaken by DUHS faculty members during past two years.

During the day-long moot guest speakers from countries like Morocco, Turkey, Malaysia besides those from DUHS shared their academic work and also presented free papers on the subject.

Earlier in the inaugural ceremony, the chief guest of the conference Din Group of Companies Chairman S M Munir appreciated that an opportunity has been created through which better health outcomes proceeded by the fasting during the month of Ramazan will be communicated to the larger audience.
