Cellular services may face prohibition in Muharram

Sindh Chief Secretary Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry has emphasised upon ensuring the coordinated efforts for maintaining the sanctity and security of the significance of Muhaharram-ul-Haram, to the entire satisfaction of all spheres of life.

 

He was presiding a high level meeting in his office Monday to have the feed-back of the concerned quarters ie. Sindh Police, Pakistan Rangers Sindh, All divisional commissioners and other linked institutions. The meeting was attended by Sindh IGP. Shahid Baloch, Home ACS Mumtaz Ali Shah, all divisional commissioners of the province and all respective DIGs and other officers, including Administrator KMC.

 

The meeting thoroughly reviewed the law and order situation in the province. It was decided that overall security programme would continue, while arrangements for Muharam-ul-Haram shall be carried out carefully and devotedly without affecting the consolidated security task. It was decided in the meeting that the monitoring of all processions and congregations must be carried out in each district and the concerned metropolitan and municipal authorities shall appoint focal persons while in consultation with the divisional and district administrators by maintaining liaison, to this effect.

 

The meeting undertook recommendations i.e. ban on pillion riding on 9th & 10th Muharram, and ban on display of arms, connectively. Aspect of cell phone closer was also discussed in the meeting. The action against wall chalking, objectionable slogans and party flags hoisting on public places and vehicles, was also recommended, it was also decided that all out efforts would be ensured for continuity of water sewerage and power facilities.

 

The chief secretary categorically noted that no compromise is feasible with lack of interest or ignorance or negligence from duty in respect of the security task, already in process with the specific reference of foreigners and the institutional safety and security measures.

 

Sensitive Areas like Karachi, Khairpur, Shikarur, Kotri and Qamber were also discussed in the meeting and the concerned commissioners and DIGs were asked to look into the matters more attentively. The recommendations have been sent to the chief minister for approval and further necessary action, in due course.
