Normalcy returned to Lyari on Monday after three-day long clashes between the two rival gangs, local news reported. Local residents breathed a sigh of relief after the joint operation conducted by police and Rangers that ultimately brought peace in the area.
According to details, the business activities were seen normal while the schools were also opened today. However, heavy contingents of police and Rangers were still deployed in the area.
It should be mentioned that most of the people were stranded in their houses without electricity, water and food supply during the operation. At least twenty persons were killed during the last three days of fierce battles between two rival groups in which heavy arms, hand grenades, crackers and rockets were used to target each other.
Sources said that amid a hail of bullets and hand grenades, police and Rangers launched a joint operation, cordoned off the area and blocked all exit/entry roads to Chakiwara, Singu Lane, Phool Patti Lane, Bihar Colony, Cheel Chowk, Dubai Chowk, Al Falah Road and other adjoining areas. They subsequently raided the criminals’ dens and arrested several people.
