Peshawar Commissioner Sahibzada Muhammad Anis’s condition on Sunday worsened, according to a private TV channel.
The commissioner, a BS-20 officer, whose condition was earlier reported as critical by doctors, had suffered 99 percent burns in an explosion in Apartment 17 of the Park Towers studio apartments in Sector F-10 Islamabad.
Asghar Nisa, a woman who was also in the apartment and had sustained 45 percent burn injuries, is also in critical condition, the doctors said.
Police sources had attributed the explosion to a gas leak in the apartment.
Both were admitted to the hospital’s burn centre.
Confirming the incident, PIMS spokeswoman Dr Ayesha Eshani said Anis was in a critical condition.
The apartment in which the explosion had occurred is in the basement of the building which is located next to the main towers.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shaukatullah Khan talked to the PIMS administration to enquire after the health of the commissioner. The governor urged the admin to ensure best treatment facilities to him.
