ASI falls as law enforcers gun down Lyari gangster

At least six persons including an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) were killed in shootings on Saturday. Unidentified armed assailants opened fire at ASI Khursheed in Yousaf Goth area of Baldia Town early Saturday morning when he was going to duty, killing him on the spot. The assailants managed to flee from the scene. Another person was shot dead near Vita Chowrangi in Korangi Industrial Area.

Separately, a body was found near Lee Market. Baba Ladla’s gunman Yousaf Baloch was killed during exchange of fire with Rangers in Nawa Lane area of Lyari. Two alleged robbers were killed in police encounter in Clifton Town area. A policeman was also injured in the incident. Two other suspected robbers were arrested from Korangi Industrial Area. A person identified as Aziz-ur-Rehman sustained injuries in a shooting incident in Mettroville Site. He was shifted to nearby hospital for treatment. On the other hand, Rangers arrested eight gangsters belonging to Wasiullah Lakho Group in Liaquat Ashraf Colony area of Lyari. Police and Rangers launched a joint operation in Lyari area where a gang war accused was killed during an encounter on Saturday. On the other hand, three persons including a police officer lost their lives in the recent firing and other violent incidents that occurred early today morning. Another man was killed when unidentified assailants opened fire at Vita roundabout in Korangi Industrial Area. The victim could not be identified yet. In other incidents of firing that took place in Mettroville Site and Lyari areas, two persons sustained injuries who were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment. Ten people were killed and 20 others sustained injuries during clashes in Karachi’s Lyari area. According to media reports, the injured include children and women. The clashes reportedly took place between two armed groups present in the area. Rockets were also fired during the fight from both sides which are equipped with modern ammunition. Police and Rangers officers present in the area failed to prevent the violence.
