Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan on Friday termed the Obama-Nawaz meeting a futile practice and said that the long awaited meeting had yielded nothing and the prime minister had returned empty handed.

Hassad said that the US president was visibly indifferent during the meeting and he did not give weight to the prime minister’s request for ending drone attacks or Dr Aafia’s release. On the other hand, the US categorically stated that the drone policy will not be changed, he said.

He said Pakistan had suffered heavily both in terms of casualties and economic losses in US war on terror and the release of mere $ 1.6 billion aid is nothing as compared to the actual losses.

The JI ameer also criticised Nawaz Sharif’s disagreeing remarks on the Amnesty International’s report in which the drone attacks were termed as a war crime. He said that Pakistan would not be able to come out of the vicious trap of loans set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank.
