A local court in Islamabad on Friday ordered that hearings of the case relating to the murder of Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Rasheed Ghazi and his mother be held at the Chak Shahzad farmhouse of former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf, which presently has the status of a sub-jail.
The case was heard by Judicial Magistrate Malik Aman.
During the proceedings, police requested the court to extend the judicial remand of the former army strongman who was not produced for hearing.
The police also informed the court that the case’s investigation officer had been changed and that the new IO was Iftikhar Chattha.
The court stated that orders had been issued to hold Musharraf’s jail trial, and further said that the case would be heard at the former president’s farmhouse, which was declared a sub-jail on April 20.
The former military ruler was booked in the murder case of Rasheed Ghazi on September 2 after Haroon Rasheed, the cleric’s son, approached the IHC for registering an FIR against Musharraf for launching the Lal Masjid operation in 2007 in which, according to a judicial commission, 103 people, including Rasheed Ghazi, as well as 11 military men were killed.
Musharraf is also embroiled in four other cases, namely the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, the murder of Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Akbar Bugti, the detention of deposed Supreme Court judges and the declaration of emergency on November 3, 2007.
What murder ? Rasheed Gazi was a terrorist and was killed by the Pakistan Army in a proper operation carried out against the Lal Masjid insurgents.
prove that in court
