A group of armed militants, equipped with automatic weapons, attacked Hawad police station in Bannu on Friday, killing one man on the spot.
Officials said Hawad police station, located in the outskirts of Bannu, was surrounded by 35 to 40 militants late in the night and fired rockets and hurled hand grenades at the building.
The police retaliated and the ensuing gunbattle lasted for an hour.
A civilian, identified as Rasool Khan, was killed during the firing. However, the outlaws succeeded in fleeing.
