The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday issued notices to the federal government and National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on a plea filed against the increase in power tariff.
LHC Chief Justice (CJ) Umer Atta Bandeyal heard the case. Counsel for petitioner argued that the government has neither taken action against power thieves nor made recovery of bills from defaulters.
The counsel argued that the increase in power prices is illegal and unconstitutional and it has burdened poor people.
The LHC adjourned the case hearing till October 28 and issued notices to the federal government and NEPRA and also called the water and power joint secretary to be present before the court on next hearing.
