The accused, who sexually assaulted a teenage girl and later threw her off second floor in Defence area, was handed over to police on five days physical remand on Tuesday.
Police presented the accused, Khalid Baloch, before the court of judicial magistrate, East. The investigating officer told that the victim was unconscious and her statement would be recorded only after she comes back to her senses. The identification parade would also be held for identification of the accused, he added. The court granted five days physical remand of the accused.
It is pertinent to add that the girl was raped and pushed off a second-floor balcony in Defence on Monday in an attempted murder case.
The police described the suspect as a “habitual rapist” who threw the girl down from his apartment in Phase II after raping her. The victim girl suffered serious head and backbone injuries.
The accused, Khalid Baloch, was arrested later. The girl was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in an unconscious condition where doctors confirmed that she was sexually assaulted. Scans of the victim’s body revealed that she had sustained multiple fractures in the backbone owing to her fall.
SSP South Munir Shaikh told that the victim girl in her initial statement recorded that she was lured by the man at Abdullah Shah Ghazi Shrine. Later, he took her to his residence where he raped her, she added.
The girl, aged between 18 and 20 years, said she was thrown off the balcony after she raised hue and cry. The police arrested the alleged rapist who owned the apartment also. The man was out on bail in another rape case in Defence registered in 2010.
