Defence Secretary Lt General (r) Asif Yasin Malik on Tuesday submitted an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court over a contempt of court notice.
In his response, Asif Yasin Malik regretted not holding the local bodies elections in the cantonment board areas despite court’s orders.
The SC had issued contempt of court notice on October 12 during the hearing of a case regarding the holding of local bodies’ elections in all the cantonment board areas in the country.
The court had observed that the secretary defence twice failed to fulfil his commitments made before the court which was tantamount to contempt of court.
