An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday reserved judgement over exemption of former president Pervez Musharraf’s presence in the Akbar Bugti murder case.
Judge Tariq Anwar Kasi heard the case. Nominated accused former interior minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and former provincial home minister Shoaib Nowsherwani also appeared in the court and presented their pleas for interim bail.
Musharraf, the main accused in the case, did not appear before the court. According to his counsel, Musharraf could not be produced in view of security threats to his life and requested the court for his exemption.
The court reserved the judgement over this until November 26. While arguments for interim bail would be held in the next hearing.
The court also reissued arrest warrants against former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former Balochistan governor Owais Ahmed Ghani and former Dera Bugti district coordination officer Abdul Samad Lasi for not appearing in the court and ordered authorities to produce the accused at its next hearing on November 26.
On October 9, the Supreme Court had granted Musharraf bail in the Bugti murder case after accepting his appeal against rejection of a similar plea by the Balochistan High Court.
