Acting President Syed Nayar Hussain Bukhari signed the draft of amendments in the Anti-Terrorism Bill 2013, says a press release issued here on Saturday.
The advice of the amendment in the Anti-Terrorism Bill was forwarded by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
President Mamnoon Hussain is in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj and Senate Chairman Syed Nayar Bukhari is performing the duty of acting president.
The federal cabinet has already approved the draft of amendments in bill. According to the amendments proposed in the bill, witnesses, judges and prosecutors in cases related to terrorism would be provided security. The support of intelligence and security agencies can be taken during interrogation of terror suspects. The bill also includes an amendment for terrorism cases to be tried within 30 days while suspects in such cases can be held in custody for 90 days.
