The election tribunal has issued notice to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar for alleged rigging in NA-249 Karachi, from where he won the election in General Elections 2013.
Dr Farooq Sattar on Saturday confirmed that he had got a notice from a local election tribunal on accusations of rigging in NA-249, Karachi.
In a press statement, he said that he would file a reply to the notice after consultation with his legal team.
Those rejected by the people in the May 11 elections could not succeed by levelling rigging allegations, he said.
The election result of NA-249 has been challenged by the PPP candidate Aziz Memon.
Separately, the election tribunal has extended time for filing objections over NADRA report on fake voting in Karachi’s constituency NA-256.
A Karachi-based tribunal launched hearing of PTI candidate Zubair Khan’s plea against alleged rigging of votes in NA-256.
The rival parties submitted request before the tribunal for extension in time for filing objections over NADRA report. The tribunal approved their plea for more time and adjourned the hearing till October 26.
During hearing of another plea against rigging in Khairpur’s constituency PS-32, the Election Tribunal recorded statement of the Returning Officer.
The plaintiff, Talpur, has alleged in his petition, filed to the Election Tribunal, that PPP candidate Manzoor Wassan had gained victory by rigging from PS-32 of Khairpur.
