Pakistan International Airline (PIA) on Friday refuted a news item appearing in a section of the press titled: PIA Plane makes emergency landing due to fire in cockpit.
A PIA spokesperson said that there was no fire in the cockpit of PIA aircraft flight PK 304, as reported in the news. Due to a malfunction of the fire alarm system the flight was diverted back to Karachi for necessary maintenance.
The passengers of PK-304 were flown one hour later on another flight to Lahore.
The spokesperson said that PIA considers safety of its passengers as its foremost priority.
