Pakistan-US strategic dialogue next year: Sartaj Aziz

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit the United States on the invitation of US President Barack Obama next year to discuss bilateral relations and regional situation, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Saturday.

Talking to reporters‚ Aziz said Pakistan and the US had many common interests such as trade and economic ties. “Other issues will also be thoroughly discussed during the talks between the two leaders.”

Aziz expressed confidence that Pakistan-US strategic dialogue would be resumed early next year.

He said the post-2014 situation after withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan will also be discussed.

The PM’s adviser said Pakistan wanted to work with regional and international partners to promote common goals of peace‚ stability and prosperity, adding that Pak-Afghan relations had considerably improved.
