The Lahore High Court on Wednesday granted protective bail to lawyer Salman Akram Raja until October 22 in a case registered against him in the Secretariat Police Station, Islamabad, for allegedly sending threatening messages to Justice Jawad S Khawaja, a senior SC judge.
The court directed the accused lawyer to approach court concerned by October 22. Justice Kazim Raza Shamsi granted protective bail on an application filed by the senior lawyer for the purpose.
Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that a case had been registered against Raja on October 8 in the Secretariat Police Station, Islamabad, under Telegraph Act 25D in response to a complaint lodged by the assistant registrar of the Supreme Court for allegedly sending threatening messages to Justice Khawaja.
He pleaded the court to grant protective bail as the accused lawyer wanted to appear before the concerned court but feared arrest.
The court after hearing arguments granted protective bail to Raja until October 22.
