Balochistan Assembly passes resolutions

The lawmakers in the Balochistan Assembly session held on Monday passed resolutions on domicile, renaming coastal belt, importance of polio drive and provision of natural gas.
The assembly session started with Speaker Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali in chair. Provincial minister Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani and MPAs Rahmat Ali Baloch, Mir Khalid Langov and Handeri Baloch moved the resolution that demanded the provincial government induct condition of getting computerized birth certificate in the rules for getting local certificate and domicile. The movers said that some people belonging to other provinces get their local certificates and domiciles from Balochistan in order to get government jobs, exploiting the right of local people.
Resolution to rename Balochistan coastline: Another resolution was tabled by the movers including provincial minister Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani and MPAs Rahmat Ali Baloch, Mir Khalid Langov, Mir Mujibur Rehman and Hainderi Baloch that demanded the provincial government rename the coastal belt of Balochistan after Baher Baloch. In their speeches, they contended that Balochistan has 1,000 km long coast that was named after Baher Arab. They said that this coast was called Baher Baloch ever since the time of Christ. Therefore, keeping in view the historical background this coast should be renamed after Baher Baloch.
Eradication of Polio: A resolution was presented on the importance of polio drive. It was moved by provincial minister Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani and MPAs Rahmat Ali Baloch, Nasrullah Khan Zeeray, Dr Hamid Achakzai, Hainderi Baloch, Rahila Hamid Durrani and Yasmin Lehri.
The resolution reads that the provincial government should ensure marking polio day in all schools as only this is the way to save the human lives from the fatal disease. The resolution also emphasised the need for issuance of polio campaign card.
National Party MPA Dr Shama Ishaq said that several children were vulnerable to the deadly disease as they could not be administered anti-polio drops. Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party MPA Nasrullah Zeeray said that except Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria polio has been eradicated from the rest of the world. Pakistan Muslim League-Q MPA Abdul Karim Nosherwani underlined the need to take practical steps for eradication of polio from Balochistan instead of photo sessions only. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl MPA Shahida Rauf said that polio teams could not reach several areas of Balochistan, adding therefore a number of children were still deprived of the vaccination.
The speaker put all resolutions to the house that passed them unanimously. PkMAP MPA Obaidullah Babat moved the adjournment motion against misbehaviour of the staff of Agricultural Bank with peasants. The motion was approved by the House for debate on October 9.
