Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman held a meeting on Thursday with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore.
Both leaders discussed the overall political and security situation of the country.
On this occasion, Punjab CM reiterated that the government will restore peace to the country at all costs. He said meeting with Fazl-ur-Rehman was encouraging and they would continue this effort in future as well.
He said although PML-N had gained a simple majority in the National Assembly, issues would be resolved through mutual consensus. He added that the government has supported Parliament’s stance regarding talks with Taliban.
He expressed dismay at the Taliban’s activities and remarked that their system provokes Muslims to kill other Muslims.
Meanwhile, JUI-F chief said that his party will endorse every positive step of the government.
