A suicide bomber on Wednesday killed eight people and injured 16 others at the Chaman border crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
“It was a suicide bombing. We have found the severed head on the blast site,” local border force commander Colonel Haider Ali said.
The official said at least one Fronter Corps paramilitary soldier was among the dead.
He said the bomber had arrived at the border from Afghanistan.
Local police confirmed the attack following which the Pak-Afghan border was closed.
Chaman is a small border town in Balochistan and is one of the two main crossing points for supplies for American and NATO troops fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Balochistan is also home to a local separatist insurgency.
Apart from a long-running nationalist movement, there has also been an alarming rise in sectarian terrorism in the province recently, with ethnic and religious minorities often targeted by militants.
Levis officials said the blast occurred near Bab-e-Dosti (Friendship Gate) in custom house on the Afghan side of the border where a suicide bomber blew himself up while people were standing in queue to enter into Pakistan.
They said most of deceased were Afghan officials and citizen while one Pakistan national was also among those killed.
Another five FC personnel were left injured.
