Criticising the government for not curbing terrorism in the country, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday announced to hold a national conference to discuss ways to eliminate terrorism.
Addressing a press conference, PTI clerics, led by Religious Affairs President Saad Khurshid Khan Kanjo alleged that the federal government was not in a serious mood to implement the resolution unanimously adopted by political parties in all-party conference.
He said that instead of implementing the resolution, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was spending time abroad, which showed his lack of interest.
Kanjo urged the government to quit war on terror and shoot down drones, which according to him were a rootcause of terrorism in the country.
He said that war against terrorism could not be won through force because military action was not a solution to the problem, adding that the government should immediately start dialogue with the Taliban, which is prerequisite for peace.
He also said that at least now the federal government should take steps to counter terrorism as it had affected the country, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that his party chairman had been saying for the last many years that war on terror was not Pakistan’s war and now almost all political parties were saying the same things.
He said that national conference titled ‘Islam Deen-e-Salamti’ will be held in Islamabad on October 5 which would be chaired by PTI Chairman Imran Khan and would be attended by intellectuals and religious scholars of various school of thought.
Describing aim of the conference, Kanjo said the PTI believed that the moot would play a significant role in elimination of militancy.
