Non regularization of service and nonpayment of salaries since the last five months have forced the Lady Health Workers (LHW) to resign from their job.

As many as 22 lady health workers from Bakkar Mandi unit Rawalpindi have tendered resignation from their service due to non disbursement of salaries since the last five months.

“ We have to do additional duties daily and even then we have neither been regularized nor has salary been paid to us since the last five months. Therefore we are constrained to resign from the service, said a group of LHW.

Over 53000 LHW are working in all over Punjab and 784 among them are posted in Tehsil Rawalpindi.

The LHWs launched campaign ahead of budget for the current fiscal year to press their demands for regularization of service and enhancement in the salaries. They suspended protest movement on the assurance held out by the government for acceptance of their demands in the budget for the ongoing fiscal year but government has not delivered its promise.

The LHWs have demanded of chief minister Punjab to take notice of the injustices being meted out to them and issue orders for regularization of their service and enhancement in salaries otherwise they will be forced to tender resignation en-masse.
