9 killed in fresh spate of violence

At least nine persons were killed in different firing incidents in the metropolis of Karachi on Monday.

In the first incident, three persons including a father and two sons were shot dead in the area of Liyari and they were identified namely as Shakoor (48), Abid (20), and Zahid (24). In another case, unidentified armed assailants opened unprovoked firing on a young student, Saleem, traveling on motorcycle at University road near Jamia gate.

One man was gunned down in Maripur road at old truck terminal.

Shahrah-e- Fasial Police claimed that a suspicious car was parked in Gulistan Johar at Block number 17. Upon receiving information police reached the site and started thorough search of the vehicle, recovering three dead bodies packed in a gunny bag, from the seat of the car.

Police claimed that they were abducted and subjected to torture after which they were gunned down.

Police registered the case and shifted the slain bodies to Jinnah hospital for autopsy.

However, their identities could not be ascertained yet.

In other incident, some unknown armed assailants shot a man in Orangi town at midnight.

Separate cases have been registered and police have began their investigations.
