PPP govt spent Rs 2.4 billion spent on tours of president, PMs

A massive amount of Rs2.4 billion was spent from the meager resources of national exchequer by former President Asif Ali Zardari and two former prime ministers Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf on their 133 foreign tours in five years of the PPP government.
According to details gathered from the Foreign Ministry and other sources, former president Asif Zardari made 16 private visits to Dubai at government expenses while Gilani visited Britain twice. Ashraf during his short nine month tenure made eight foreign tours.
The president made seven foreign visits in 2008, 20 in 2009, 14 in 2010, 22 in 2011, 23 in 2012 and six in 2013 that cost the national exchequer an aggregate of Rs1.31 billion.
Gilani went abroad for 51 visits which cost about one billion rupees.
