Unscheduled load shedding across the country has made life miserable for people as shortfall has surged to 3800MW.
According to details, with increase in temperature, urban areas are witnessing more load shedding while rural areas were supplied electricity only for seven to nine hours daily.
According to spokesman of the Water and Power Ministry, total electricity production from different sources is 13,700MW against the demand of 17,500MW.
He said 5800MW electricity is acquired from hydropower projects while thermal and IPPs are producing 1800MW and 6100MW electricity respectively.
The spokesman hoped that power shortfall would decrease as the mercury will descend.
