The Election Commission (EC) tribunal on Friday declared the degree of a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly bogus.

KP Assembly member (MPA) Yusuf Ayub is from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and is the sitting provincial minister for communications. He won the May 11 general elections from PK-50 Haripur.

The EC tribunal has ordered fresh polls in PK-50 after the minister’s degree was referred by the Higher Education Commission to the Punjab University for verification and was declared fake.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz member Qazi Asad, who contested the general polls from PK-50, had challenged Ayub’s degree.
