ET restrained from deciding election petition against Balochistan CM

The Supreme Court (SC) has stopped the Election Tribunal (ET) from deciding the election petition filed against Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch.

The SC maintained that the ET should keep the matter of election petition pending until the fake degree case of Ehsan Shah, rival candidate of chief minister Balochistan who filed the petition, was decided.

The counsel for Dr Abdul Malik told the court that the degree held by Ehsan Shah was fake and a case in this respect was sub judice.

The CJP remarked, “He has obtained stay order in the fake degree case and he participated in Election-2013 on the basis of that stay order.”

Counsel for Dr Malik said, “If the ET gives any decision, then complications will arise. Ehsan Shah’s fake degree case should be decided first and if he is a fake degree holder and that is proved in court, he has no right to file any petition against Dr Abdul Malik.”

The court accepted the plea and adjourned proceedings until October 1.
