Saad Rafique visits church blast victims

Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Thursday visited Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar where he enquired after the health of those injured in the twin bomb blast on Christian community.

He visited different wards of the hospital and remained with the victims for some time. The doctors apprised him of the victims’ condition and instructed them to provide best medical treatment to the injured.

He prayed for early recovery of the injured and eternal peace for those who lost their lives.

 

RETRIEVE LAND, INCREASE REVENUE: Khawaja Saad Rafique on Thursday directed Pakistan Railways officers to retrieve illegally occupied land of the department and to improve revenue generation to make it profitable.

During his visit to Peshawar Division he said that the federal government was working on short (2 years), medium (5 years) and long (10 years) policy for reformation and revamping of Pakistan Railways.

He said a strong mechanism is being put in place to evaluate the performance of officers on monthly and quarterly basis. “The country is passing through a difficult time and we need to work hard with honesty and dedication for betterment of our countrymen,” he added.

The minister said young and highly motivated officers would be encouraged and directed them to make efforts to improve the service delivery and comfort of passengers.

The minister remarked that the government strongly believed in merit and officers showing good performance would be encouraged.

He said that the officers were servants of the state and young officers should take care in dispensing their duties. He asked them to work with professionalism and honesty and to contribute towards the nation’s progress and development.

Earlier, General Manager Operations Anjum Pervez and Pakistan Railways Divisional Superintendent, Peshawar Muhammad Saeed Khawar appraised the minister about future and ongoing plans, issues and challenges.

Issues pertaining to railways lands, dry ports, connectivity of Industrial Estates of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with railways, Peshawar-Karachi Railways tracks up gradation plans were also discussed.
