Farhan Saeed’s ‘Halka Halka Suroor’ reboot praiseworthy

Post song’s release, singer experiences sold-out concerts in India, gearing up for something bigger and better in the near future. Sweet, melodious and more than just in tune, former Jal frontman Farhan Saeed’s voice grows on you like an unscratched itch. The singer who enjoys his niche of a select fan base just got bigger with ambition, showed off his confident stance while picking the internationally revered Pakistani legend Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan for his cover rendition to “Halka Halka Suroor”, and the niche of his fan base spread like wildfire. In the words of Farhan’s manager of two years Ali Mirza, “The song ‘Halka Halka Suroor’ is the talk of the town these days. The song’s video was a big challenge for us as it was already a big hit over the internet. I had to change Farhan’s image from a band’s vocalist to a solo singer who acts a bit in his videos and can carry traditional outfits. It came out really good and I’m loving the response. Also giving the video a young director (Hamza Yousaf) clicked.” ‘Coke Studio 2’ saw the soft crooner exposing his mettle with Sufi songs and his this year’s rendition of Nusrat Fateh’s mega hit “Halka Halka Suroor” successfully places the young musician in the race of the ones to watch out for. The song, which was released on August 12, has tasted success with almost an instant. A total of 10 concerts have been held in India all throughout August and September, up until now. The video directed by Kakkar, features the music enigma dressed up in a typical Eastern attire with kurta, waistcoat and shalwar, romancing the top model Amna Ilyas. Kudos to Salmoon John Daniel for the wardrobe, which catches our eye more than anything. The video revolves around the ups and downs of a relationship and is based on the premise that any relationship can give a lover sweet and bitter memories and can change the lover’s personality for good or bad. “Like my previous recent projects, I have again given a chance to young talent. This time it’s Hamza, who directed ‘Halka Halka Suroor’ video. It’s his debut video and he has proved himself as a promising director,” Farhan says.
