Balochistan Health department on high alert

Balochistan Health Department is monitoring the situation to check probable epidemic in the quake affected areas.

Talking to a private news channel, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Spokesman Brigadier Kamran Zia said that Pakistan army teams have started relief operation in the quake hit areas.

He said that most of the mud houses have collapsed adding that NDMA is in touch with district administration and Balochistan government in this regard. “Seriously injured persons are being shifted to Karachi and Quetta for treatment,” he added.

Balochistan Disaster Management Authority Director General Hafiz Abdul Basit also said that Army, frontier constabulary and district administration personnel are engaged in providing relief to the quake-affected people.

He informed that Balochistan government teams are also reaching the affected areas and providing treatment to the injured persons. “The earthquake intensity was 7.7 on the Richter scale and its depth was 10 feet,” he said.
