PM asks NDMA, others to reach earthquake affected areas

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed the Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to update him on the relief activities conducted by the Pakistan Army and other federal institutions in the earthquake affected areas.

He reiterated that the Federal Government will ensure provision of all possible help to the local administration for rescue and rehabilitation of individuals who have been affected by the earthquake. He added that the Federal Government would stand by the people affected by the natural calamity in their hour of trial.

The Prime Minister also directed Minister for SAFRON General (r) Abdul Qadir Baloch and Minster of State for Petroleum Mr. Jam Kamal to reach Awaran at the earliest possible.

He further instructed them to stay there for the supervision of all rescue and relief operations and said that they will be responsible for coordination among the NDMA, Pakistan Army, FC and Civilian Authorities. They will also be regularly updating the Prime Minister on the progress of relief efforts.

In the meanwhile, Pakistan Army’s relief contingents have left for the earthquake affected areas on the direction of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also expressed confidence that the armed forces and civilian authorities would live up to their tradition of helping people affected by disaster.
