Khattak steps down as PTI secretary general

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Wednesday resigned from his post as secretary general of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Jahangir Tareen will be the new secretary general. PTI Chairman Imran Khan is known to be against the idea of officials juggling responsibilities in government offices while simultaneously occupying party positions.
Spokespersons for PTI revealed that the party’s central executive committee, which held an extended meeting a few days ago, decided that dual offices would not be allowed, though a final decision in the matter had been left up to Imran Khan.
Following increased criticism over being unable to attend to his dual responsibilities after the recent Peshawar church blasts, Pervez Khattak finally resigned from his party post on Wednesday.
