Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif arrived in New York to lead the Pakistani delegation to the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The 193-member Assembly is set to begin its debate on Tuesday. The Prime Minister is scheduled to address the General Assembly on September 27th. The prime minister will attend the opening session of the General Assembly today (Tuesday) where US President Obama will also deliver a speech. Sources said that a meeting between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Nawaz Sharif will take place on September 26th. The much awaited meeting with Sharif’s Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh is expected on September 29th during breakfast. The Prime Minister arrives in the New York when over 80 Christians were killed in suicide bombing at a Peshawar Church. Sartaj Aziz, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs told a private TV channel that Pakistan was committed to protecting minorities and will assure the international community of this resolve at the United Nations.
