The Supreme Court on Tuesday disposed off a case regarding missing person Muhammad Umair Khan Niazi on his safe return.

The case was heard by a two-judge bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and comprising Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman.

During the court proceeding, Additional Attorney General Tariq Khokhar appeared before the court along with Umair.

He informed the court that Niazi, a resident of district Jhang, had safely returned home a few days ago.

Giving details, he stated that Umair went missing on April 13. Khokhar said Umair was returning home after offering the Fajr prayer at 5 am when, according to eye witnesses, about 10 unidentified armed men abducted him.

Khokhar said locals informed the Punjab Highway and Patrolling Police about two vehicles, a Pajero and a Cultus, used by the abductors.

The Patrolling Police told Umair’s family that both the vehicles belonged to a secret agency so no FIR could be lodged against them.

He said a FIR was launched on May 24 when the case was brought before an Enquiry Commission.
