Civil defence department Rawalpindi has issued the notices to the owners of 460 plazas and markets lacking security arrangements.
The decision has been taken to take stringent action against them.
The lives of the traders’ community and those residing in these plazas have been put at stake due to the non installation of fire extinguishing equipment and emergency passages.
Fire extinguishing equipment and other security arrangements have not been put in place in 80 central plazas located in the areas of the Rawalpindi Cantt and the city and over 180 plazas situated in the other areas, commercial centers, hostels, hotels and major buildings.
Under the orders of the Punjab government, directives were issued earlier to the owners of these plazas, commercial centers and hostels ensure installation of fire extinguisher and the other security arrangements but no heed has been paid by them.
Therefore, the civil defence department has issued notices to them and sought report in this respect.
