Seven men including five policemen were killed and several others injured when miscreants targeted a police van through a remote-controlled bomb in Pishin on Monday.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed the responsibility for the attack.

According to details, the militants blasted the police vehicle with a remote-controlled bomb while it was on routine patrol on Saranan Road.

The blast destroyed the van resulting in the death of seven people including five policemen and two citizens and injuring many others.

Police and rescue team reached the spot and shifted the injured and the bodies to a nearby hospital.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the blast in Pishin.

Sympathising with the bereaved families, the prime minister prayed for the departed souls.

He also prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile, TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid called the media and claimed the responsibility for the attack. He said the attack was in retaliation to the killing of 13 TTP prisoners in a fake clash, which he said was a retaliatory action by the security forces after the Lower Dir attack.
